I am buying new brake disc's & pads for my 04 Megane, but have noticed with the rear, some disc's come with the ABS Ring & Bearing, and some don't. Do these need to be changed aswell when changing the rear disc, or can they be transferred to the new disc's, There is a BIG price difference between the two, so if they can be transferred would save me some money.
Thanks
John

Re: Rear Disc (ABS Ring / Bearing)
I'd replace both, you can change them over, but if the bearings then go it'll be a right pain to have to change them and it'll end up costing more... Just my opinion tho..
You can get genuine Renault disks and pads with the abs rings and bearings for.... I think £120 on eBay, which is really good..

Re: Rear Disc (ABS Ring / Bearing)
Hi John,
Replaced all 4 of my discs, pads, rear bearings and ABS rings last July . Got them from clickamotorspares via ebay for £149 delivered. Good service and the parts went on no problem.
(Local garage charged me an hours labour, £52, job done.)
I agree with Joe, not doing the bearings at the same time is a false economy.
Let us know how you get on.

One more question, do I need a puller to remove them, or any other special tool. I have the Torx bit to remove retaining screws from the disc, but someone told me I will need a puller to remove bearings etc, is this right?

Nope only need that if your keeping the old bearings, if you buy the disks bearings and everything it all comes already pressed together, you change it just as you would a normal disk..

Re: Rear Disc (ABS Ring / Bearing)
not long done the rears on mine.I got genuine renault rear discs, pads & hub nuts and cost £131. Got them off ebay but collected in person from wolverhampton. It's quite an easy job until I got to the caliper torx bolts. These were a Bugger to move as they are loctited in. I managed to get the top one off then I hammered the crap out of the caliper to get it to move then it slowly loosened the bottom bolt. All went back together really easy.
Not a hard job really.

Re: Rear Disc (ABS Ring / Bearing)
That's a point one tool you'll need it a torque wrench.. Everything has a soecific torque to be tightened to.. You may end up ruining the bearings if under/ over tightened...
