I've always been put off by the idea of Decals, because they for me, seem to essentially be stickers for a car. So i'm always concerned that they will become tatty, wear, or come off, however when I was restoring an old Datsun 120A, I wanted to mess around with the idea of lacquering over Decals to essentially make them part of the paint work. Does anyone think this is possible, or has tried it, and what are the possible draw backs of this idea? I haven't seen any threads for this question, so thought that I would ask. Before I start turning my Megane into a test subject.
Thanks again
Quick Question :)

Re: Quick Question :)
Hi mate, it used to be common place in the 80's on rally cars etc as the graphic used to come off quite easily or they were painted on by a proper sign writer but current graphics are printed on whats normaly refered to as "7 year graphics vinyl" which does as it says on the tin. If you want to you can laquer over the top of them but you need to do a lot of layers to get rid of the step. Personaly i wouldn't as it means a lot of work if you change your mind and want to remove them or change them.

Cheers Eddie, and Reno, that does make sense, maybe I'm just thinking a bit in the past as to how good vinyls have become nowadays, a friend of mine has a Mustang at a garage that he laquered on some spray work and some vinylls, so im going to go have a look at them and ask him whether it was worth doing.
But I suspect I might just find some decent Vinylls and give them a go and see how they do first.
