airbag and service light

went to start the car today and it won't the airbag light comes on along with the service light. i have previously had this and just twiggled the connection under the seat's although this never stopped the car from starting. Am i right maybe thinking that its the srs airbag in the steering wheel? much help would be appreciated as its doing my head in.
