Hello All, I am new here.
Recently my 2005, 1.6L Gasoline Megane II is consuming more gas and it is getting slower and slower. i don't want to replace it, rather I want to fix it and make it better.
Now I thought about changing all injectors with new ones and doing an ECU reflash. But I then thought probably I can also add a performance chip to its ECU among other stuff...
Remember I don't want to do something "hardcore" like changing camshafts... just light performance modifications that can give me the best bang per buck.
Can anyone assist please?
Thanks

Re: Making my Megane II Better...
From what i have read around and about a chip will not give you any great gains on performance as your car is N/A (turbo'd cars will see the biggest gains). I would first off try to investigate why the car is using more and more fuel. Not a mechanic so can't make any suggestions. I wouldn't have thought making performance mods to a poorly car is the answer.

Well most probably the fuel system needs attention, and I plan to replace the injectors.
Since I am at it, I thought I would give it a bit more punch especially that I drive it most in uphills..
Hardcore engine modification is just out of the question...

First thing I would be doing if you have checked all of the basics is getting it on a diagnostic machine and closely scrutinise the live data. Especially on AFM and O2 sensors.

Ok other than those, any Chips I can buy for her to give her more power?
Anything else (light) I can do to have this?

Re: Making my Megane II Better...
I agree, O2 sensors (the upstream one at least) can make the difference. These engines also often suffer dephaser problems caused by bad oil. The dephaser malfunction may cause poor performance and increased fuel consumption. So, flush the engine and use only MB229.5 oil and OEM oil filters. Change them annually or every 9k miles. Long drain intervals kill the engines!
