I managed to get 41mpg out of our 307 1.6 (Petrol 110bhp), but now 60mpg (when it's not freezing cold) from the Megane with no loss of performance. IMHO the Meg has slightly better handling, better build quality (our 307 was late phase 1, and was too unreliable for us) and more gadgets, albeit at a higher price. I don't miss the A pillars getting in the way at junctions, and like having a sunroof (that actually opens).

Going off track slightly but just driven 307 up to Darlington and back over weekend and 1 thing i did notice Gav was noticeable A pillars decreasing visibility out of car. other than that really good drive and just slightly over half a tank of diesel used. Mind you the good lady filled it up so i can't moan at that!!!

Saw the latest type R on top gear few weeks ago and it had good report. But as with all things some people will love them and have no trouble and others will have problems galore and hate them. Does look nice car though.
