Re: Chrome Roll Bars
No Sorry, they might not be called roll bars / hoops. Not sure there is such a thing as a roll cage for a CC

Re: Chrome Roll Bars
Its the modern day car version of a roll bar you don't get that chunk of metal above your head they are suposidly along with the screen surround be tough enough to keep your head off the tarmac!!, did you see them on Ebay, they look quite good, not sure how good they would be in a roll mind you, you Renault ones are shaped and quite close to the rear screen, these are hoops so they must be shorter, other wise they could hit glass, in which case I can't see them selling them, mine has the exploding rear head rests so I can't have these, some models do some don't, if yours doesn't you are ok to fit these if like mine it does then you can't as far as I am aware the car throws up a warning all the time. Plus mine is silver so it wouldn't have that much impact, look better on a red or black one.

Mine is black..... I hear you say exploding rear head rests? you mean the head rests themsevles or the standard roll hoops/bars themselves explode?
Ive not checked this to be honest as I had no idea they actually did that!! I cant see mine not having them to be honest, its a 59 plate top spec dynamique s. I will be gutted if I cant fit them after spending the cash I have!

Re: Chrome Roll Bars
I think "exploding" is a slight exaggeration!
If the car rolls over with the roof down the roll hoops extend to prevent you doing a "Richard Hammond" if you were sat in the back. The screen surround protects people in the front seats. I'm sure it was an optional extra when we ordered our car in 2005, not sure if it became standard equipment on later cars?

Re: Chrome Roll Bars
I can confirm that they arnt standard. I took mine out today. Quite easy to do once you know how. Just 4 bolts behind the rear seat.
In case any of you want to know how to take them out.....
I took back covering in the boot and could see 4 bolts which looked like they went right through, which gave me the idea that they were fixed

The Bolts were fastened behind the rear seat, so I have to take the back seat off first, with mean removing the plastic edge so I could get the the screw thatfastened the rear seat in.

It has been taken out in this pic, but you get the idea as to where it was

I simply undid the 4 bolts which you can see were located where the 4 paint marks are, then they just lifted out. Job done

I will update when I finaly get the hoops and fit them in

Re: Chrome Roll Bars
Exploding!! that was the discription given to me by the last owner, my wife took weeks to sit in the back incase the headrest blew up!! it was an option then, the car I have seems to have a lot of optiond fitted, it was the showroom model, which was loaded with a quite a few "toys" it was the first one in the dealership, the previous owner had spoted one in France on holiday and his wife loved it, so when local dealer got one in as showroom stock he bought it at £22K I have the purchase invoice, WOW! that was a lot of cash in 2004
I belive they work from some kind of sensor which the roof oviously (hopefully) switches off and work similar to the seatbelt affair, which in some cars also uses a small charge to retract in the event of an accident pulls the belt tight against the inertia lock, we have to set off the "explosion" before we send seat belts back they actually go with quite a bang.
Must admit, with Renault electics being such quality I do sometimes wonder if one of my headrests will go off and end up on the bonnet of the car behind
I bet they will look great on your black car! not so sure on my silver one, in my eyes silver and chrome don't work that well together, I wanted a red one, my wifes Meg Coupe looks stunning in red but could not get a CC at the right price in red, they where stupid money, next colour was black but by the time I sold my old car there where not that many blacks around either mainly 1.6 petrols, it is a heafty car and I do a lot of miles per week so I wanted a diesel, so I ended up with the silver/blue perlesent one which is well on its way to 80k now. Nice motor just a shame about build quailty

Re: Chrome Roll Bars
You can only do this if your car does not have roll bar thingy..... excuse me for my scientific language. Should the car overturn then it would extend to protect occupants.

Yes, look at the photos I uploaded, see where I have shown the 4 bolts, they go right through with means they are fixed. How is anything going to raise when it has 4 blots in it? Answer is it wont, so just follow the pictures and you will soon see if they are the type that extend or not.
Anyhow, they arrived today and I fitted them nice and easily, fitted very well for a non Renault made aftermarket product. You all can decide if you like them or not. Im quite pleased.

And this is just one of the car taken on the weekend pre chrome hoops but without standard ones

Good question! I am looking at Wills pictures and they look the same as my rear seat space, so I am beginig to wonder myself now, checked the sales invoice that came with the car when it was new, it lists all the car is carrying but nothing about rear head rests, now on a 2004 they where not standard fitment as far as I am aware so it would have been an option, yet it is not listed.
The mature couple we bought the car off who owned it from new where insistant it has these "explosive" head rests, but as said when I took my rear seat out to mess around with my rear window the seat back looks the same as Wills, so I am starting to wonder now if it has got them, unless the mechanism is behind that rear plate, I supose the bolt holes would be in the same place but instead of being solid perhaps they are tubes, I don't know just guessing really.
So in answer to your question Tuba I have no idea, I thought I had them but after seeing the images of Wills car I am not sure at all now!

I know thay bought it from the showroom, and it had some extras added to it as it was the showcar for the CC in that showroom, I belive it was the 1st one this dealership had seen, the couple even had old newspaper clippings of it in the showroom, headlined something like THE ALL NEW RENAULT MEGANE CC, there was an open day for it at the dealership, perhaps the sales guy seeing all the bits n bobs on it assumed it had them fitted, don't know really, it has listed comfort pack (suspension) so I am guessing by the looks of it the suspension has been changed for the Softer ride option, which would explain the wallowing I supose.
