Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
Oil advice and recommendations here
I get asked many questions about oil so I thought a thread here for all oil related questions would be a good idea and build into a FAQ or reference point for others.
So, put your oil questions here but please give the following information if you would like a recommendation:
Make:
Model:
Year:
Engine size/type:
Any mods:
Type of use (road/track):
Additional info (max oil temps, current oil used):
What do you want a recommendation for? Engine, Gearbox etc?
I hope this will help and become a useful thread
Regards
Guy

Re: Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
It may well end up as scrap if the oil isn't topped up asap. Use a 5w-40 or 10w-40, that should be pretty easy to pick up from a petrol station or you can buy from us.
https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx
https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-657-10w-40.aspx
Any of those will be fine for your car, especially if it's just topping up. Motul 8100 X-Cess is a good one for sensible money.
If you go to a petrol station for a top up, Shell Helix is probably the best thing to get.

Re: Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
Hi,
I have just purchased a 2008 Megane CC 1.9dci (130) non FAP.
Could you advise whats the best products to use servicing it, and how much is needed? i.e engine oil, fuel filters, coolant etc etc...
Do you do a servicing pack for the vehicle?

Re: Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
We've got an ideal one on offer at the moment, the Fuchs GT1. A few weeks ago it was £45, now it's £27 and a very good quality oil.

Re: Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
One a bit more general question:
Can I (and why not if I can't) use Low SAPS oil in Megane dCi without DPF/FAP? For example Elf Solaris DPF C3/C4? Renault says that oil of grade w30 should not be used in engines without FAP.

Re: Oil Advice & Recommendations Here!
To be honest, I don't know why they say you can't use a 5w-30 in a non-DPF engine. Our information says that while a 5w-40 may be the preferred grade, a 5w-30 and 0w-30 are also suitable.
