I dont want to get fleeced at the garage...HELP

Ive got my 54 megane 1.9dci booked in this wednesday at an official renault garage to have the problem with my window fixed (drivers front) just wont go down......now im hoping its gonna qualify for the 75% cost cover from renault but just what has to be the problem to qualify for this assistance.....what else is not covered and could be the cause of my troubles ????.....info appreciated ....cheers

The window regulator and or associated wiring is most likely at fault - it is well documented on here. I would be VERY surprised if they gave you any discount whatever (although I may be wrong). There can often be a cheap DIY fix involving cleaning electrical contacts or obtaining a new regulator from ebay or the likes (albeit having to remove the door interior trim).

I think your service history has to be at an authorised dealer, but dont hold me to that.

Its not a big job really. They will replace the motor and regulator (maybe the mecanical parts)

Although 9 times out of 10 its just the regulator that has gone (seal gone and water ingress)The motor itself is sealed so is normaly 100%. You can buy the part alone form renault parts direct for about a 10er i think.

Mine went a while back. I just replace it with the one from the rear window untill i ordered the part.

Cleaning the contacts with 'contact cleaner' can often be enough and then a good sealent over the connection.

A dearler tends always to make a mountain out of a mole hill if you know what I mean.
