Alternatives to cleaning my own car??

Hello all,

I'd like to take good care of my Megane however due to a lack of funds I've been unable to purchase all of the care products I've been after (car wash, wooly mitt, buckets, polish etc etc). I was wondering what an alternative to washing my own car is??

Obviouly there are car washes at the garage etc, but the thought of those plastic/rubber bristly rotating cleaning thingys doing a number on my paint job sends swirly shivers down my spine!

So how about those hand car wash places? Even if they do use the dreaded sponge??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The only other person i would let wash my car is my friend Nigel and he has one prizes and contratcts for his detailing skills.

I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER go to a hand wash place. They may as well rub sand paper over you car.

What can you expect for a 10er? The guy i speak of cleans/details high performance/super cars and charges upto £500 a time. (My car does look well when he does it)

Or when i go round and do it using his product selection.

Just save your money and buy the proper kit. Your car will love you for it.

As above never, ever go to one of the car washing places. Most damage occurs due to an incorrect washing technique so if you get that right you can hang fire on the clay / polishing / sealants / waxes.

You can get yourself kitted out with adequate wash materials fairly cheaply; 2 buckets (B&Q 98p each), some decent car wash (pick up AG wash and wax from places when it's on offer £2.50), a noodle mitt (most £1 shops for er ... a pound ) there you go and, until you can afford a proper drying towel pick up a 4 or 5 pack of cheap microfibre cloths again from a £1 shop to do the job.

I'm trusting that you have a hosepipe already, if not then there's obviouslty the aditional cost of that and an outside tap if necessary.

Yes I have a hosepipe and outside tap lol. Just need everything else. Where Im am though these construction going on next door and my car now has a nice coating of dust and grit!

How do I even begin to clean this mess? lol

I got one of the kitchen sink hose connectors... lets you wash your car with nice warm water
