Me again. Another problem to solve!
The car judders when you lift the clutch to engage 1st gear. Once it warms up the judder becomes less apparent. I can only feel it going into 1st gear.
Any ideas?

Re: First gear Judder
Check if the engine vibrates at idle when cold. it can be an early manifestation of coil or dephaser failure. Dirt in the throttle body or air getting behind it can also cause it. Does the car drive well, any flat spots, warning lights, excessive fuel consumption? Failing engine mounts may cause engine vibration, but not judder of the whole car...

Re: First gear Judder
The car does not idle really smoothly and its not extreme juddering. But you do feel it through the pedals, steering wheel and the seat.
Its the wifes car and she doesn't pay any attention to these things.
But I borrowed the car last night and today and its not right.
General driving to me feels a little lumpy.
But I don't know if its because I am used to driving a bigger diesel car!?!?!
I'll have a look at the engine when its idling. Should it move much if you rev it??
We have three problems with the car, I don't think they are related:
1) The judder engaging first gear.
2) Takes 4 seconds to start. Going to clean the TDC sensor, when I work out how to get the battery tray out.
3) Water has started leaking into the door pocket.
4) When you open the boot after it rains you get *!$$£" on

Re: First gear Judder
What you suggest is not a bad starting point. If you drive at idle speeds in 2nd and floor it to the rev limiter, are there any noticeable hesitations?
Check the transmission fluid. The clutch might be an issue. Does it happen all the time, or when it's cold/hot etc?
