Megane side panel smashed

Postby adbwfc » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:17 am

Hi everyone. Having an absolute nightmare with my megane. Passenger window won't work, car stalls on start up, air con broke etc etc everything that could go wrong on it has.

What I want to ask is, the panel on the passenger side, in between the door and the wheel arch has been damaged. It looks awful so i want to change it, surely The whole side has to be ripped off and replaced as it looks like one whole unit as The panel continúes above and along The window? I have seen quater panel parts on The internet but dont get how they would fit? Has anyone had this done? How much do you think it will cost?

I have a megane 04 VVT dynamic . I would really appreciate any help you can give

The panel has to be cut if it can't be saved, its suprising what can be saved though with metal work. Most body shops will prefer to try and save a panel rather than cut as once you break into that body shell its not gonna last anywhere near as long due to rust. I had the door and rear arch sorted and that cost £950, no panels required. So you can imagine the cost if they have to cut and weld in a new panel. Got any pictures of the damage?

It is pretty amazing what metal workers can do these days.
Not many repairers do it any more but filling and respraying is prob the cheapest option.
Because its still a fairly new car a colour match wouldnt be a problem.
