Alex

You are correct that the 1.5 doesnt have a low pressure pump. I was thinking exactly the same as you. The bubbles are before the priming bulb so I am going to disconnect the main fuel line and put the pipe that goes to the filter directly in a jerry can of diesel. If this cures the air/starting problems then I will test it again but this time with the priming bulb attached and a new piece of pipe etc. Hopefully this will cure it.

I know the garage opened the fuel tank to check if it did have a low pressure pump so i am just wondering if they have reconnected the fuel line properly? I will get them to check tomorrow.

:banghead :banghead :banghead
megane 53 plate estate 1,5dci 88k miles.
got it from private seller around week ago all was fine until today after noon this: 'Injection Fault & STOP' "fantastic" message was shown on dash board.
it was after 30miles trip down M3, short (30 mins) in stay basingstoke whe i was going out from basingstoke and pulling from junction into M3 i pushed it on 3rd gear over 3,5k revs when message was shown. i was changing into 4th ( still on a slip road) at the time. it went off after 2-3 seconds so being on slip road i chad no chace to pull over. done 30 miles back on m3, paked at tesco's done shopping, went back home - and it runs absolutly fine. now the question about fuel - when i bought it it was on LOW reserve so it po 30pound of diesel into the tank then added 1/3 of "STP diesel formula" - would this STP stuff caused it???
:eek
PS :
Mr "dry_flood " - how is your Megane now? still got it or did you set it on fire :((

Hy guys,

I've got this kind of issue on my 1.5dCI 100HP. If i drive smoothly i can run the car without any errors appearing on the dashboard, but if i press the pedal down after 3-4 seconds the message "Injection Fault" appears and the STOP light comes on at the same time. To make it go away i just have to release a little bit the accelerator and its gone, if i press it again the error comes again. If i don't release the pedal it will go away for about 5 seconds and then comes again and it will remain repeating this cycle until i don't release the accelerator enough to stop the error from appearing. I also notice that the car is not delivering the 100HP like it used to.

This problems started since i've used a STP (or similiar, i dont remember the brand) product to clean the injectors, the car had the RPM unstable while on idle RPM (+-800RPM), going up and down sometimes. After a few miles using this product the car began to give me this error ever since, this was 6 months ago and still the same problem.

So far i've changed diesel brand 3 times (No sucess...), i've got the 4 injectors checked and cleaned (their are OK), measured the return diesel quantity from the injectors (OK also), tried a new pressor regulator - the brown unit attached to the High Press pump - (the problem remained), i've changed the EGR valve (It was in bad shape, it wasn't closing properly) but the problem remained, and now i'm going to try to change the rail pressure sensor unit which must be the rail + pressure sensor, no results yet because im not going to buy a new one just for test, i will do like i did with the other parts, i borrowed them. (Renault dealer will not sell me parts until the problem is solved, i think thats wasting money)

Also i've scanned the car to read the ECU errors but the error that the software reads doesnt match any of those contained on the Megane II PDF's. The error code is P0089 - Maximum pressure value over threshold.

Reading this forum i saw that the low pressure line shouldn't have any bubbles...how can i see if there is any bubbles on that system? I've got bubbles on the return diesel line, the one that is transparent, is that the one you call the low pressure circuit?

Any help on this its appreciated. Thanks!

PS: I've got a Megane 2 keycard repair tutorial made by me, with opening instructions, typical malfunctions and repairs, measurement values for the PCB...

Hi Everyone,
I have had the same problem with my 54 Megane DCi and here's my tale.
Problem first happened 2 weeks ago, 'Injection Fault' and red STOP light comes on, the car kept going, though i did notice a slight loss of power. When i re-started it went fine for 10 miles or so and then same thing happened.
As it was due a service in about 1500 miles i took it to local garage (not Renault dealer) and asked them to service and resolve problem. They looked at the errors and thought it was glow plugs and a dirty fuel filter causing the problem, which they changed.- cost 350.00

Anyway, next time out 15 miles and the same problem again, this time i 'limped' to the local Renault Dealer who did 30mins diagnostic and cleared the error log down and sent me on my way cost 50.00. This time i got 1 mile up the road before the error happened again.

I decided against going back to that Renault Dealer as they seemed clueless and went to another Renault Dealer, who diagnosed the problem last week as Faulty No 1 Injector which they promptly changed - cost 410.00
2 days and 100 miles later the same problem again, back to the Renault Dealer, guess what, another injector, this time no 4. They recommend to change all other 3 injectors this time, which they are doing at a cost of 750.00.
I'll be picking the car up tomorrow and if it isn't fixed this time does anybody now a very deep lake in West Sussex i can push this POS into!

As a subnote i have subsequently found out from a colleague that Deisel engine problems are often best taken to Diesel specialists rather then Main Dealerships. He had a similar problem and they recalibrated the injectors for his car rather than replacing (which is probably delaying the inevitable, but obviously a lot cheaper)

Hi this be my first post here after searching web for answers on this injection fault and stop problem, some back ground info - I've now had my 2003 1.5 DCI Megane for over 3 years, it had a full service history when I bought it and I have maintained it, with a full service every 18k miles and an iterim service every 9k in between my full service, I do alot of miles, mainly motorway 300 or so a week, 20 mile round trip to work mon-fri, 200 mile round trip to anglesey at weekend every week. Normally use shell fuel, not v-power though. Problem first happened a few months back, pulling off from lights quite agressivly, no loss in power at all though, it didn't happen again for at least 3months, now has happened again I'm getting worried, epescially after reading some posts here! Any ideas on what steps to take now, I'm total noob as when it comes to mechanics!

Any help/advice appreciated,

Bruce

Update...

I've managed to bypass the fuel filter and feed the HP pump directly from a small and clean diesel can. The result is nill, i.e., the fail is still present. The components at this time have been all tested: injectors, fuel filter and fuel lines, rail pressure sensor, pressure regulator and temp sensor. At this time there isn't nothing more to change except the HP Pump and i think that's it. Now i need some opinion from you guys: do you think that i need to change the all fuel system just because the HP Pump is faulty? I remember you guys that i've seen the fuel filter and there are no metal chips at all, i even opened the filter after just to make sure. Maybe this Fuel pump has done his life time, 280000Km more or less, and the pump succumbed just because of its long life and consequent normal erosion. In my opinion there is no need to change the all system just because i can't find any metal chips anywhere in the system, but i would like to ear your opinion.

Cheers

picked my car up from Renault garage on Friday. So far no problems though i haven't done 100 miles yet, but previously it was happening every 5 miles or so so i hope it has been resolved. So far this problem has cost me £1600.00 for a 54 plate 1.9Dci Megane which has cone 84000 so the cost is roughly 50% of the value of the car.
All 4 injectors now replaced, we'll see what happens......

Well, reading your post now i'm confused...should i double check my injectors before i change the HP pump? I already check them and clean them. The tech guy said to me that they were good but his not a delphi agent, is a multibrand technician...on this case maybe its better to use the services from a delphi center. I will try to find it out on Portugal and i will tell you guys the results before i go for the pump.

cheers

i have been reading this thread very carefully, i have same problems with my megane 03 plate 1.5 dci, i have decided not even to waste any money on this car and have put it up for sale..seems like there is no definate answer to what the problem was..my car starts first time everytime, idles unevenly, sometimes it drives fine, sometimes i get the "injection fault messgae2 followed by "stop" sign...ive changed glow plugs, tdc sensor but problem is still there..wil be getting rid of this car very soon, spares or repairs..
