minimum brake disc thickness??

Postby bobbyb1288 » Fri Oct 24, 2008 8:30 pm

Hi Y'all

Does anyone know what the new and minimum rear brake disc thickness is for the 2005 1.5dci Sports Tourer?
If it's got pistons or breasts it's going to be expensive!

Hello, in my Haynes manual for my 2004 Scenic 1.9 dCi, they quote New discs at 8.0mm and Minimum thickness at 6.5mm, hope this helps, regards Damian. :-)

Many thanks but the disc appears to be greater than 8mm originally.

Cheers Alex, just what I'm looking for. Bought the car from a dealer who sold me the car with rear discs at 8.15mm. They're going to replace them or I won't be happy. Will keep you posted if you're interested. Rob.

They are 270mm diameter which means their minimum thickness is 9mm.

from memory, all Megane II saloon and hatch have 240mm rear discs, the sport tourers and scenics have larger rear discs.

Sports Tourer has 270mm Diameter disc rotors, yours has 240mm so they wont fit. Might be possible to swap the calipers over assuming bolt mounting pitch is the same.
