Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
I've not owned my 04 Megane 1.5dCi too long, but for the short time its been out of the garage I've noticed that after a night of rain, by morning as I turn a corner I can hear water rushing from one side of the car to the other. It sounds to be coming from somewhere near the bulk head. Whilst driving the noise does seem to go as if its finding a place to run while I'm turning a corner, which is hopefully out of the car!
I've not investigated it too much yet, but when I first bought the car, we found water in the little floor pockets by both the passenger and drivers foot well. I suspected water entry around the wipers but can't see anything...
Does this sound like a problem anyone has had before? I searched the forum but couldn't find anything??

Re: Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
It's probably one of the top 10 mentioned problems. Various solutions have been suggested - from memory silicon sealing the bottom part of the windscreen and all sorts...
I know the search function is difficult to use, but have another crack.

water is supposed to go in there, but drain away.
the drain hole in the bulk head will be blocked..as said people tackle it in different ways...from sink unblocker...hot water...jet hoses...poking suitable wire thru the top mesh.

Re: Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
The drain in the passenger side is blocked. After a few bends all water is splashed into the driver side part of the bulkhead and drains through the second drain. Poke the passenger side drain through the mesh under the windscreen with something like a stiff insulated wire. I doubt that any detergents would help, and the drains unblocker will damage the paint and seals.

Re: Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
Thanks for your help guys, yesterday I poked a metal rod that just about fit through the plastic holes in the grill by the wipers. It cleared the drain which was on the passenger side and once cleared there was a wush of water as it all drained out onto the floor.
Thanks again
Hopefully problem solved. The test will be when we next get a down pour, which in the UK shouldn't be too far away!

Thanks for posting this Simmo et al, as it has helped resolve one of the issues I have with my new (to me) megane.
As a help to those who are unsure and pondering spending £120 for Renault to do this, here are some pictures of how I just did this (the same way as above) and how easy it is.
The tools I used were ;
As I make things from uninsulated copper wire, this was what I used, but you could easily use a wire coat hanger as it seemed that only about 8inch's was required in my case (not suggesting everyone is the same though!).
A Torch to see through the mesh cover and locate the drain.
Some Warm/Hot water to add in first to ensure I could see an ejection (as it hasn't rained in the last hour or three!) and to pour in after to clear it further.
After some poking around, I found the drain, it is located directly below the where the copper wire is going in below (the second arrow is to show anothe tube which feeds into this drain, this makes locating it a little easier IMO) about 3/4 of the way to the right of the mesh (towards the passengers door side);
It only took a few pokes to clear this (I think the pressure of the water that I poured in first helped here also), and then there was an immediate gush to the floor.
This last picture is not as clear, but you can make out that outlined above, that the pipe feeds into this drain (and see, thanks to the torch, that it is now clear);
I found it best to rest the bonnet on my shoulder, as in it's stand it was not high enough to get a decent view of things.
I hope someone else finds this of use.
Rich

Thanks Rich, great photo guide!
Does anyone know of a similar photo guide in a thread to replace the wires on the back of the clutch pedal so I can start the Megane by pressing the clutch? Renault would like to charge me £38.35 for the pleasure! I understand its another common fault on the Megane II because the original wires are too short.

Thanks for the advice about the blocked drain in the grill under the wipers,after 5 mins all the water had drained away.
The hardest thing was finding a wire coat hanger

Re: Over night rain causes bulk head water noise in morning?
I wondered what the sloshing noise was!
My FIAT used to make similar noises, but that was because of the leak in the cooling system...
Yet another thing I need to check.

Mine was full of bits of tree.
You know the ones that continually drop bits everywhere?
All behind the wipers and everywhere.
