rear brake lights flashing...

Postby lexhardon » Sun Oct 11, 2009 5:14 pm

hi there everyone,

anyone know how easy/hard it would be to make my rear brake lights flash under heavy breaking like on some of the newer cars... i think this feature not only looks good, but is well worth having if poss.

If anyones got any ideas ill be well up for trying them with my meggy

Im sure its the hazards that flash, brakelights flashing would be dangerous.

You will find that the hazard lights flash under emergency breaking on the megane.

Try it out, drive along at 30 - 40 and slam on the anchors. They will flash...

With ABS you arent ment to pulse the brake under emgergency conditions... its hard on and keep it down. The electronics activate and deativate the breaks a few times a second to allow steering. Thus the term Anti-Lock Breaking System.

I've been thinking about trying this. Some of the newest cars do flash the brake lights, not just the hazards. The Vauxhall Insignia is one. Was behind one when it happened. All 3 brake lights flash at a different rate. I didnt know what was happening.
I know that motorbike accessory shops sell a flasher unit for bikes. But not sure if it will fit to a car, cant see why not though.

i was behind a new lexus and it was just the 3rd brake light that was flashing. but as A13XDT said most new cars the lower two flash at a diff rate to the 3rd brake light.

i was behind a new alpha last night, the sport hatch back, not the little girly one, and thats third brake light was flashing.....all the way down the motor way, i think that was more down to dodgy alpha electronics rather than this though ha ha
