Servicing in Wirral, Liverpool or Manchester

Postby Barney Gumball » Thu Oct 01, 2009 6:44 pm

Is there any Wirral, Liverpool or Manchester Megane owners on here...?

I purchased my Megane from Renault Manchester.

I had to take her back twice in the first week to have her air conditioning fixed and re-gassed and the alarm fixed (which was eventually replaced under warranty after I had to call out the AA at 2:00 am to turn off the alarm before my Neighbours called the Police ... so much for pre-delivery checks!)

She's now perfect :-) !

I'm not keen on taking her to Renault Manchester for servicing after the above 'kerfuffle'

Has anybody got any suggestions...?

I've always previously used a garage in Salford called Lightoaks of Lancaster Road.

They've always been cheap, reliable and trustworthy (I also purchased my old Laguna from them and had three years 75,000 miles trouble free motoring)

Where do you guys and gals get your servicing done...?

Regards,

Barney :rock

I'm in Manchester.

I'll be taking mine to a place in Stockport. https://www.riverside-revilo.co.uk/

Avoid Arnold Clark down the M62 - Wigan/Warrington - clearly have issues with anything with moving parts.

Try Chorley - not heard any bad reports - do you need an independant or main dealer ?

Even if it's under warranty you don't have to take it to a Renault dealer, you only need to take it to a VAT registered garage that carries out the service to Renault standards (not much to aim for there then) and uses the correct parts.

If it's not under warranty take it to a good recommended garage.

Prosport in Stockport on the Heaton Mersey industrial estate prvide good workmanship but they're not the cheapest.

i think there is a renault specialist just over the road from ren manchester.if you stand right on the corner of the crossroads outside ren manchester, with your back to the showroom, look across to the other side (diagonally),i`m sure theres a garage with `renault service specialist` or similar billing on the wall. :idea

Manor Garage, Lightfoot Street, Chester 01244 346886. Just had my 1.9dci Megane CC 4 year service and MOT done there. Excellent, courteous service, ran me back to work, rang me to explain what had been done including advice about advisories on MOT and a couple of other items not on the service schedule, and cleaned the car inside and out.Could tell that the car had been thoroughly serviced(unlike the main dealer when I wasn't sure if they'd actually done anything!). Will certainly be going back there.

Think I'll be going there then as not far from me, got to be cheaper than Looker which is where I normally go

Hello,

Can you advice me any garage in Liverpool, Preston area where I could change cambelt? May be independent garage.

Some Renault stealers quoted me around £550+ (not mentioning Liverpool Renault - they wanted £450 just for the labour plus parts ) what I recon is quite dear for 1.4 16V. I asked for timing belt, tensioner, pulley, water pump. I was adviced to change accesories belt and tensioner what adds £100 extra...

Thanks for help :-)

Have you tried Suttons Garage at Tarleton (just off the A59)?

Small family run Renault garage, had all but 1 or my Renaults from them (and I've had lots!)

Personally speaking I have had nothing but excellent service from Renault Manchester. Been using them for the last 3 years. I'm an ex mechanic (time served) albeit from a Ford franchise so I guess that makes me a fussy bugger. All in all they seem a decent setup.
