ello!
Ok, come october i will be having my 1.6 dynamic lowered 45mm by two of my friends
iv had a good search but cant find much specifically relating to the info im after.
as far as lowering goes, i will be buying 45mm SPAX springs as these seem to be this forums fave, is there anything els i need to know before i set about doing it?
my main query is regarding alloys. i will be looking into getting some 18" alloys, iv not yet decided what design in want but i will be after something smart and MAYBE a 225 lookalike wheal. now my problem is alloy specifics.... i have no idea what offset, size, tyre size i need.
so a 1.6 megane on a 45 mill drop.
what alloys specifics do i need?
and when buying alloys is it a simple case of requesting the right sizes from the dealer?
another thing is alloy and tire packages... the tyres that come can you also chose these or do they just send any tyre size and you have to live with it?
sorry for such a daft few questions lol
and thank you for all your help
Simon

hi mate.i saw a topic somewhere on here listing all the sizes for tyres.
tour offset needs to be somewhere between 35 and 42 if i remember right tho correct me if i'm wrong.
the tyres are important as the wrong size will throw off your speedo and could void your insurance.
for the megane it 205/55r16, 16"
205/50r17 17"
and 225/45r18 if i remember correctly.
you should be able to choose your tyres when you buy. make sure you get the right ones.
with regards to stud size, the megane is a 4x100 pcd. this is the same as most jap 4 studs and minis and the like so keep an eye out for them.
someone else will have to confirm the spacers and offsets.
hope this helps
Regards,
Jonathan

same as minni? iv been looking at some 18" minni alloys that i really liked.. hmmmmm lol saw some BMW ones too
Re: could do with some help from you clever people
Just a note regarding the fitment Renault vs. others: Even though the 4x100 PCD is the same as on some other makes, the Renault has a wheel centre bore of 60.1mm which is bigger than most other makes. But then again, most aftermarket wheels come with separate centering rings that can be changed to suit most makes.
Most OEM alloys however are machined directly to match the centre bore of the particular car make (i.e. there are no separate centering rings) and as such suit only cars with that particular centre bore.

225 40 18 same rolling radius as the standard 16's so wont put your speedo out and cheaper than 45 profiles. i think team dynamics did the closest match to the 225 wheel but the discontinued them a while ago, you could find some wheels which look like the r26r wheels to.

you can buy some hub adaptors from belgum or somewhere for about £300, so that you can actually make the 225/r26 wheels fit, you can find the mk1 225 ff wheels for pretty cheap on forums and ebay, £100 or so.

Re: could do with some help from you clever people
they are quite smart like, bear in mind that with the split rim they wont look as large as some other 18"s, id give the place an email and ask, but the offset is wrong, i cant remember if a higher offset moves them in the arches or out, but to far in and they will catch the discs/springs and to far out and they will fail mot and get the bobbys onto you, i thin the ideal meg offset is around 36, someone feel free to correct me if im wrong, but as the finn said check the center bore, if its smaller than the megs they will never fit.
Re: could do with some help from you clever people
i think ill steer clear for now (no pun intended)
