Hey,

I'm Fern, 22 year old (well will be 22 on the 11th) Female from Edinburgh.
Joined the site for some help really, I'm just about to buy a 54 RENAULT MEGANE 2.0 T 16V Renaultsport 225 and rolling around in my head the fact that lets face it there aren't many good reliable cars that have come from the french, so just looking for your opinions, little things that I might need to look out for and any common problems that might eat at my pocket

Welcome to the club. Check for a full service history, make sure all electric windows work, check for water ingress in door pockets, in under floor compartments and the carpet in the footwells. Make sure that you get two key cards and that both work. Test drive and listen/feel for suspension knocks as the top strut mount bearings are a weakness.

Welcome Fern, hope your 225 will be ok - they go like stink and look fantastic too!

I think Jonault has outlined everything you need to check before you buy, but one thing he missed was to beware the Renault dealers, (known around here as "stealers"!). Yours may be ok, but most are operating with their hands tied behind their backs by Renault as to what they should do and what they are officially allowed to do by the factory.
