Battery change 1.6vvt

Postby snoopdutt1985 » Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:58 pm

hi i need to change the battery in my 52 reg 1.6vvt....when looking at potential replacmenet which is a 027 i believe the terminals dont seem to be in the same place as the current battery and i notice a numebr of auxillaries attahced to it, if i disconnect the battery do i stand to cause any further heart ache?

just out of interest what are these cables?

what is the best price for a 1.6vvti battery, where from, and is it easy to fit?

any help much appreciated,

andy

Did you find your answer because I too need a new battery for my 54 reg 1.6vvt but am confused about which battery I need, some sites list the battery as a type 063 and others list it as an 027.

From what I can tell the 027 is the more powerfull of the two however i don't want to buy it if it's not going to fit in the battery tray etc!

Can anybody advise please?

Do you know which type it was? 063 or 027?

why dont you find one of those little car parts shops that are dotted around everywhere and go in and ask for a battery to suit Renault Megane........

Thats the problem, some of them say its an 027 and some say its an 063 - I'd rather not buy one and have to take it back again if its wrong. Also if I knew which type it was I could probably pick up a better quality one cheaper online. :D

i went to a little independant in the end and had it changed as it was persistantly dying on me.
cant rememeber the number now but my problem has not gone away as i came back to it and it was flat again today!

i paid 5 pound to get it fit which was worth it for me but all those cables come off as one piece as does the earth so quite easy to fit if u have the right tools, quite tricky to get into some of the gaps because of ncap testing regs.

hope that helps

all the cables will be cables for the alarm imobilizer ect, nothing will happen if you disconect them as long as you dont leave them off for to long! then everything will reset,

if you have replaced the battery and yet it is still dying them check your interior lights are turning them selves off check the boot light is turning itself off and if they are get a garage to put a volt meter on the alternator , thats the next suspect!
