Hi All,
I'm driving Renault Megane 1.5dci Sporttourer Dynamique, 07reg. Tyres 205/55 R16 91H both front and rear + alloy wheels as per Renault standard spec. Continental Premium Contact tyres as per Renault standard.
I noticed that the left rear tyre has excessive wear on the outside. On the outside the thread is 1.6mm (legal limit) when on the inside it is about 3.5mm. Both front tyres have 3.5mm tread.
It was fine during the first service (8500miles) equal tyre wear at the rear and front (+-0.5/1.0mm). At second service (16600miles) I can see the difference and the excessive wear at the rear tyre.
I hit a pothole some time ago on the left hand side and that can be the cause (had to change rims they were bent 20mm).
Question: How you can change the camber at the rear? I was told by Kwikfit and National that you can't and they advised to go to the Renault dealer - Park Motors in Motherwell.
Or maybe something is bent but can you adjust rear in any way?
Anyone had similar situation?
Slawek

Re: Rear wheel excessive tyre wear/camber problem
I hear the rear axle isn't adjustable on the megane, the only thing I can think of is a new rear axle... I don't think its cheap either!
Hopefully someone will be able to help you further!

Re: Rear wheel excessive tyre wear/camber problem
I've got EXACTLY the same problem, same wheel (n.s.r.outer)as you.Been same since new,now 87,000miles & on my 3rd set of tyres, different makes each time.Had all the checks done,ie , 4 wheel alignment, shocks checked.....no fault found !?! All i do is rotate wheels on car on a regular basis & even turn tyres on rims to maximize tyre life.

Re: Rear wheel excessive tyre wear/camber problem
Once I had any car that had this problem and the guy that fitted the tyres in my local tyre fitters said it is due to either going round roundabouts or corners to fast and nothing to due with the camber or alignment

Re: Rear wheel excessive tyre wear/camber problem
in the first years, around 2003, there were loads of meganes that had their rear axles replaced by warranty because they were somehow bent.....but afaik in 2007 that's no longer the case.....
