Strange Noise when braking

Postby Mick » Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:35 pm

Since this cold weather ( -5C) in the UK, I get a strange groaning noise when braking heavily just before I stop, its OK after a couple of miles when the tyres are warm, anybody got any idea's ':?'
My Megane II is shod with Continental Premium Contact 2 on the front - tyre pressure 33 PSI, 6mm tread ,not damaged, brakes 50% worn, tracking OK

Noisy brakes are common on Meganes but they usually squeal rather than groan. Besides changing the pads to Greenstuff, I'm not sure what the cure could be.

Yeah my old Meganes would groan, particuarly during decent braking. I was wondering if something was wearing out (brake pads were fine when checked) but as the car was written off I will never know.
