You can try resetting it but I suspect even if this worked its on its way out eventually. I'm not so sure the reset is gonna help you buy try it, its free. No the window regulators pretty straight forward once the door cards off.

cheers for the replies lads. still no luck. i tried resettin' it but nothin'.

renault have agreed to look the problem at no cost... which surprised me to be honest. the guy on the phone said they will see if renault uk can get it sorted free of charge. whether or not they come thru is a different story.

but on tuesday at 10:00 i wont be long from findin' out.

Window Regulator

Postby Mick » Sun Feb 03, 2008 11:13 am

You should be OK....Renault UK replaced my window regulator at their expense even though my megane II was out of warranty.
Important: do not deadlock the car before it has been replaced or you will end up with a open window which cannot be closed without disconnecting the battery and going through the window resetting process. :whip

took the car to renault, they said the regulator cost £250 and the diagnosis was £50. i got charged £50 over all. does this sound ok?? or far to much?

the price for the regulator is right, but it was a bit unfair to charge you £50 to diagnose it, if even fellow non technical owners on here know what the problem is! But then again, its better than paying £300!

the guy said renault uk would cover regulators up till the cars 5th year or so. after that your on your own.

i really hope this doesn't happen again. £300 is so steep. at least i was kinda lucky this time.

Seeing you can source them on ebay for well under £100 (often around the £50 mark) I doubt you have much to worry about in the future :).
