sony and wiring......help

Postby neil stag » Sat Jan 26, 2008 7:46 pm

hi after my experiences with halfords (earlier post ).i have tryed to fit my cd player myself and am not doing a very good job.To start with i was told that my megan connectors would fit straight in to my new cd player...they did not and after looking at lots of iso adaptors it was clear that the end that should go in to my cd player was not like the one that i had got with the cd player . also i noticed that in the original cd player there were 3 different wiring blocks...one white one black and the yellow can bus one. My new cd player is a sony mex 1gp .I f any one could help me out i would be most grateful because everybody i ask seems to tell me something different and i would end up with about 10 iso adaptors and wires around my neck links and phots would be most help ful because i dont want to go to a cd specialist and have him have my pants down for about £100 when i could do it for a few pound s....thanks

The Sony will have come with a lead that plugs into the back of it. The other end you will see is two parts. Two of the connectors from the car plug into that, not the yellow one - that is for the stalk and display. One connector is for the speakers, the other is the power. They will only go into the correct side of the Sony lead, so you cant get it wrong

It only came with bare wires? Where did you buy it from? It should have come with a Sony to ISO lead like this:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-16-PIN-16PIN ... dZViewItem

It should also have a DIN to ISO convertor for the aerial like this:

I am going to order these straight away.Get this ,i went to halfords to see if they had any and guess what , they did at £29.99....talk about having your pants down. now all i need is a facia adaptor.Once again thanks for all the advice, you guys have put my mind at rest after that numpty at halfords scared the crap out of me about not being able to fit a after market stereo to my car.

Can someone share with me an updated link for the type of ISO adapter needed for a sony stereo. Got one off a friend that didnt need it anymore so it didnt come with any adapters. Thanks.
