Electric window problem

Postby tipi » Tue Jan 01, 2008 4:04 pm

Passenger side front window went down when I locked the doors. I could not close it, nothing happened when I pressed the buttons. The other windows were functioning OK. I took off the door panel, bypassed the window motor controls, lifted the window by using the motor and after that it started to work normally again.
Everything was OK for 2 days but then again, when locking the doors, the same window went down. El. window buttons did nothing for that window. After couple of minutes the window closed on its own. Now it does nothing when I press the operating buttons. Yes, the other windows, door locks etc. do work perfectly.

Any ideas, things to check, parts to replace? BTW, I was washing the car quite thoroughly two days before the first incidence and used the door locks first time after that when this happened.

Thanks in advance.

there is a way of re setting the windows by having windows closed and holding both front buttons in the up position for about 10 seconds. Not sure if ignition has to be on or off, think its in the owners manual if you have a look. Might be worth trying to see if it has any effect.

Tis indeed a regulator problem.

As a backup (shown to me by the an AA man), open bonnet, disconnect the neg power lead, reconnect, press the lock button twice on remote. This should make your window close slowly 2 inches at a time.
Disconnect power lead again and repeat procedure to close window.

Note: It may not work!
