'missing' air con valve!

Postby overandunder » Sun Dec 30, 2007 5:14 pm

The saga continues;

After posting - 'Air con drain / heater probs', I took the advice given and shuttled off to Kwik-fit today for a top-up.

'No problem sir, takes an hour to hour and a half, okay?'

So I left the car and went for a wander in the local high street. About 15 mins later I had a phone call from them saying they couldn't do the job. Back at the garage they somewhat sheepishly explained that they couldn't locate one of the valves on the system!

One of them is easy (up by the bulkhead, top lefthand corner, in plain view), but despite removing all the engine surround plastics they couldn't find a second, and 'if it wasn't a Sunday we would normally 'phone Renault and ask'.

I have also had a look but am no wiser. Could a kind soul put us both out of our misery and point out where it is please? Is it hidden by the engine tray ?

Moral of the story - if you go to Kwik-fit make sure you know they know where the valves are!

Thanks

Thanks for your reply Ray and digging the links out. All very interesting to know. I briefly saw the equipment they had at Kwik-fit today and it had red and blue coloured flexible hoses attached to it (high and low pressure sides?).

Am now even more surprised that they didn't realise what they were looking at and say 'ahh its a single connection drain /refill system and we don't have the kit / know how to work on those', My excuse is that its my first car with air con and know very little - but am learning all the time!

Will have a chat with Mr Kwik-Fit tomorrow and put them in the picture!

Thanks again,

Rob

The Megane doesnt have a low pressure side. They can regas it at Kwik Fit, they did my wifes Scenic (which is the same) without problems. I guess they are just fools at your branch
