Postby dynamique_rob » Tue Oct 30, 2007 8:35 pm

Hi i've got a silver 3 door megane and i'm going to fit a 225 kit and lower it, what size alloys would be best on the car would 17's be too small? any pics or opinions appreciated

17's would be OK if it's lowered, the arches on the Megane are quite big, so anything smaller tends to get a bit lost

People have put 20's on megs with no arch work, just to give you an idea.

Yes apparently they have, but just slapping 20s on with no lowering makes the car look ridiculous as the red Megane sadly demonstrates...

But with some slamming the 20s do look the danglies as proven by a silver 3-dr (can't remember whose it is)!

IMHO if you go for "just" 17s or 18s then you need to choose the offset carefully to bring the wheel as "out" as possible, otherwise even 18s look a bit lost in those huge rear arches.

For 17s, what offset would you recommend to bring the wheel as "out" as possible? Thanks.

I'd say 35-38mm , depending on the widths..35 @7" or 38 @7.5/8"..any wider and you're lookin at rubbing, if you dont lower you may get away with more ,but then it looks like a 4 x 4.....

I might add..just cause you put 20's on doesnt mean
the wheels will fill the arches better, you have to get rubberbands to keep the o/d the same..so i wouldnt go bigger than 18...with comfy tyres...thats just MHO..
