Great cars, crap electrics.

I have the GT 150 DCI. Have had it since mid march and its already had a brand new dashboard fitted and im awaiting a rear seatbelt pre tensioner thats causing the airbag warning light and message to light up.

Its a shame that Renault didnt pay attention to the electrics.

Be aware of small problems, trip comp freezing, dash not lighting up at night etc as a sign your dash is screwed

Seconded!!! Car is great to drive, but there have been a few teething issues.. Like the dash lights not coming on and the airbag light coming on.. We have two of them and they have both suffered the same issues as Celticking, so it must be something Renault know about, and should fix..

I have been told that Renault are aware of the dash light thing and are working on a fix.. Both our cars have had the air bag light twice and both seem to have been fixed by a software reset.

Boysie I think either Im getting work thats not required to be done on my car (under warranty of course) or your dealer is screwing about with you.

I have the advantage of my uncle working at the dealership however:

The small electrical probs, they installed a new dashboard for me, said that they could guarantee that within 6 months the old one would completely pack up.

Airbag light and warning message, they tell you its a software fix, for me they installed a brand new seatbelt wiring loom that has solved the problem.

Just concerned that we are having the same probs but im getting bits replaced each time.

Hi,

thanks for the update, and I agree that it seems strange a software update can fix a setbelt warning light issue, unless it has made it less sensitive to small "micro outs" as I have heard them called.... Not sure really, but, Touch Wood, both cars have been error free for a while now :D

How much did the software update cost and was it the dealer that did it?

My wiffee's megane has the airbag warning light on and no-one can detect why !

Cheers,
Matt :?:
