Excellent Megane

Postby Moto » Thu Apr 19, 2007 5:53 am

It's good to have somewhere to vent anger and to find solutions that other people have to our problems, but are Renaults all that bad ? I owned a 51 plate Meg Cab for about 5 years and it was great, I had a couple of prblems but in the 5 years overall I couldn't fault it. It was fast enough, comfortable, well equiped, economical and very reliable.

And dealership, I found JayBee motors Renault Banbury very good, but I found the Renault dealer in Kidlington crap.

Is anybody else happy with their car.

Mote.

I am.
I guess that average quality and quantity of problems is similar to other makes of the same price.
But you get better equiped vehicle, better looking and with 'character'

I've had a 04 Megane dci 120 from new, its covered 86k miles and had very few minor problems with it. I also use Jay-Bee at Banbury, the staff are very helpful and switched on.

I think most of the cars have problems,I am sure if you find other forums there are other people complaining about their problems with their non-renault cars.

Anyway,I am happy with our car and if I was going to buy the car when we did,I wouldn't change anything or go for a different brand.

I have been well happy in the last 2 years!

Doesnt matter what make or model car you have its all luck! I have owned more than enough duds to realise this!!

Hi,
Nice to read that there are people actually pleased with their Megane's, I am thrilled with mine, but as it is only 3weeks old, I had best just hope that this like other Renaults I have owned proves to be as reliable as the others. I admit I was more than a little concerned on reading all the problems that others are experiencing, so just hope like you all goes well with my "pride and joy" :D
Good luck and many more happy miles of motoring

I'm happy(ish) with mine, it's much better than the 52plate Laguna I had before.
I've only ever had Renault's and had very good service from them up until the last Laguna which was a dog!

Silly little things spoil the enjoyment though. My handsfree has been a total pain, and the dashboard rattles are starting to make themselves heard on a more regular basis :?

I'm very pleased with mine so far, mind you it's only 5 months old so time will tell I suppose!

I've had a few minor niggles on my 04 1.4 'Sport' Hatch but it has largely been very reliable. Alomost out of warranty, though, so will be keeping my fingers crossed after hearing of everyone elses problems! As others have said, I'm sure there are the same kind of hassles with most brands.

Mine is an 05 plate 1.5dci with 28k on the clock and I cant say I have had any real trouble with it.

A few little things but I wouldnt let that put me off keeping her.

For all the trouble I've had with my Meg I must be totally insane because I still love the car. That may all change very rapidly in a few months when I have to start paying to have the faults put right (warranty expires) however.

I was thinking of starting this post myself actually but i've been beaten to it lol.

I've only had mine since last october but i've done 8k already and the car has done nearly 25k and i've had no trouble. It's one of the first cars i've had that i'm not even thinking of changing after 6months. I'm usually planning it by now

The cars smooth, quiet, powerful enough, comfortable and looks great. Hope things continue this way!!!

Bought my 1.9 tourer priv. on 15th march 06. with 12,250 miles on the clock. After having a golf 130 estate(chipped to 165 bhp)the meg was naturally slower, but what a comfortable car with loads of toys.

Come november the problems started, after continually complaining of a sticking clutch pedal & after 3 visits to the dealer & 2 master cyls & 1 bleed they finally fitted a new clutch pedal assy. ,sorted..then a new driveshaft to cure a 3 cyl tickover,3 new door handles, new engine mount & last week they replaced the air mass sensor to cure flat spots on hard acceleration......i think thats all.

It will be 3 years old in june & has 47k on the clock so i thought i might sell on & go back to a focus tdci est.(used),but shock, the best bid i can get is£5800 !!!!!!!!!!! i paid( no,i stole it from a retiring gent) £8500,when forecourt prices were £10,800,but i still cannot afford that kind of loss.

Now since the air mass sensor has been changed it's returning 57mpg with the plug in box ( giving 143+ bhp) .SO do you think it will go to 180,000 miles over the next 4 years when we retire to turkey,or should i bite the bullet & lose nearly £3500 in 1 year & go for a focus .

Now where's that coin........heads or tails......................
