O.K. looks a little bit different than the stock exhaust of a 1.6 16V....

...before, I already had the exhaust of the small 2.0T (163hp) under my car and this was homolugated, but the sound wasn´t no big diffrence to stock....

What did you change it for? Just the sound?

The sound was only a secondary thing, I was very surprised how loud it is behaving on a 1.6er without the damping effect of a turbo charger, because on a 225 it´s low noise, isn´t it?
The main reason why I changed was that I wanted to get a little more power. As I wrote, I had before the the exhaust of the 163hp turbo under my car. This has increased the hose diameter from 45mm to 55mm from the outlet of the mid section on. But the hose diameter between catalyst and mid section is always 50mm at al versions except the 225. The advantage of this is, that there are no modifiactions necessaray to fit the 163hp exhaust under a 1.6er and after I had meassured it on a chassis dyno with 120hp and 162Nm.

Then before Xmas I got a offer for the exhaust system of a 225, only 7.000km old, and very cheap (€100,-) and stainless steel...I couldn´t resist, even it was more work to fit it, because I had to modify the catalyst outlet and the end-tube. What I gained now I can´t say, it´s not much, maybe a little more torque between 2,500 and 3,500rpm.

May be in the future I buy the supersprint sport exhaust maniflod, or I modify the catalyst with the bigger 225 flex hose that´s still left....

Yeah the 225 exhaust isn't the loudest thing in the world, unless you're booting it somewhat :D

I like! Do you have any ideas if this can be done on a 1.9dCi?

Sure it can, welding is also necessary, but I think it will not be very loud.

A friend of mine installed the exhaust of a 1,9Dci under his 1,6 16V, this nearly is as loud as mine with the RS exhaust, but this is clear, the 1,9dci has no middle silencer.

There was a guy in the german Megane Sport forum ( https://www.sportmegane.net/forum ), who offered a complete system, because he got a sports system. After some negociation, we were at 100,- Euros. :D

Guys... any updates on using a M2 GT or RS original Exhaust over a 1.6l engine will improve the performance?

Can anyone share their experience... I am planning for my next project ....

Before that RS original exhaust, I had the original exhaust of the 2.0T with 163hp (you call it GT??) under my Megane. The difference compared to the RS exhaust is, that the outer diameter from the mid-section outlet on is 55mm instead of 60mm and the connection to the catalyst is 50mm like also the 1,6l has, so it fits without any modifications.

With this setup plus a K&N replacement filter and the sparplugs of the 2.0T (NGK PFR6G-9) I was on the engine dyno: 120hp/162Nm

Power diagram

Torque diagram

With the RS exhaust now (I have now experience of about 3 months), for that I also increased the catalyst outlet to 60mm, I feel more torque between 3000 and 5000rpm, but I mean little less power over 6000rpm, which I cant explain to myself. I should go on a dyno again, but don´t have time at the moment....

Last weekend I did the last modification to my exhaust. I welded the RS down-pipe (of what I still had the flexible part with the 3-bolt flange) at my catalyst, after having both of them cut to correct length. The fact that both (1.6 and RS) use the same flange made it easy. Now it´s completely 60mm diameter.

The sound became now a little bit deeper but also not so loud anymore (inside the car). Performance I think kept the same.

And just for comparison heres the lovely new tone of my 1.6vvt after a complete exhaust replacement at Kwik Fit including a new cat..

Here

I have no clue how they made it sound so nice but the part numbers on the invoice are SPECAT-ECRN155 (cat) RE610 (center) RE633 (tail)

I like it 8-)
