Hi Guys,

Problem with my Megane MK2 04 plate. ignition comes on but car wont crank over, electronic fault comes up on the dash and the immobilizer light stays solid.

Battery is fully charged, connections tight, starter is fine no issues there, just cant understand it. any one know what I need to do

Can you not check the starter solenoid to see if its faulty by jumping the connections on the starter motor itself...If engine starts then replace solenoid if engine spins but no start you will have to get a engine diagnostic done...GOOD LUCK

Hi Owain, had exactly this problem with my Megane 1.9dci last year. Car had been parked up for a couple of months and one day when I came to start it it just wouldn’t go.

Tried a whole host of things and had 2 mobile mechanics come out and tell me it was either the ECU or BSI was faulty.

Took it to a local Renault specialist who found the issue and had it fixed in 30minutes. There was a broken wire in the wiring loom that runs across the front of the battery tray. Wouldn’t have seen the break as it was only in the wire not the insulation. If you know what your doing I can send you the picture of the cable they’ve repaired or take it to a local Renault specialist.
