Steering arm has relative movement at its fixings
My Renault Megane 2004 has just failed its MOT can anybody please tell me what parts I will need to buy... steering rack gaiter insecure nearside front 2.2.D.2d steering arm has relative movement at its fixings nearside front 2.2.B.1h

Hi,
sounds like you need a n/s rack gaiter, they tend to go hard and need to be flexible. The other must be the track rod end or inner track rod on the same side.
Jack it up and find where the play is.

Thanks mate I did give Halfords a call just to confirm what you said and they say yes the same they did say the Gator just needs securing with another clip quite pleased with it really 80000 on the clock and the car still holds its own on the road I'll get the job done thanks again

Hi,
check the gaiter because if it's gone hard it will keep coming off, mine did.
Plus, while the track rod end or inner tie rod is off, it's easy to do the gaiter.

You're right there did check the gaiter it seem a bit hard I thought I'd buy a new one and I notice the difference straight away I managed to get the job done for under £30 took took the car back for the MOT retest past no problems many thanks Bob very much appreciate Regards Alan
