I am tempted by this engine as it has a chain rather than a belt.

What is the mpg and what kind of bhp can you get with a remap?

MPG I believe is around 36 around town no idea on mapping though my old 04 could have gone to around 150 with no mods an extra 30 bhp so you think 150 + 30 makes 180 but perhaps not my wife's pug is 138 but it will only go to late 140's 10bhp????
Apparently is because its engine is tuned close to max already, I think your best answer is to talk to a mapper, it also seems there are different mapping programs bit like beans Heinz and no frills both make beans but the quality is miles apart, funny really meg 2 does a 2ltr DCI chain at 150 bhp but then they launch meg 3 with an all new chain engine for the 2ltr pushing 160 bhp and called a gt Renault sport. I often wondered what there there 16 valve engine drove like.
They should be cheap now as well with the diesel scare on, auto trader has a nice mk3 white gt for just under £7k.

Thanks, I was thinking the same. My next car will definitely be diesel as I cant find a petrol that can do over 650 miles a tank and has decent acceleration.

I just wish there was a megane 3 cc Florence that was made with a diesel engine. The interior is really nice.

Actually is 36mpg right? My wife's ford smax 163 bhp automatic can get 38mpg doing town driving and that is one heavy car.

I think it's called the Floride. Lush car, agreed re. the interior. They pulled the stops out for that one. I'd love one of those.

The original fluoride was a 1.4 petrol so Renault have kept that particular model true to original there is actually a metallic plum one as well but just European market.
To be fair I don't need a diesel anymore but practically it a better car the 1.4 petrol is a turbo charged 130bhp so it tempted me what concerned me was 26mpg round town and something like 36 on a run my old diesel gave me almost 40 around town mmmm road tax the petrol £220 (2.0dci cost you the same?) Or my 1.9 @£150 my Renault friends warned me off with mainly its a gas guzzler, so I found one in Liverpool and tried it it was better than my old one but I was 10bhp down but what struck me was how you had to work it hard so less fuel economy. I bought a 1.9 diesel instead same bhp out put but what a joy to drive totally different to the mk 2
U liked the Florida's as well which what really pulled me toward a petrol but no!
Tell you what I do ponder on now, if this 19 is so drivable and quite egar to go what on earth is the mk3 2.0 DCI like. Wow might of missed out there.
