Oil Plug problem

Postby jdashburn » Wed Jan 04, 2017 3:08 am

Hi,

I have a 2001 convertible. I went to change the oil and discovered that the oil pan plug is not a normal hex bolt. It is a recessed 4-sided plug that is a bit smaller than a 3/8 inch drive. Anyone know of a tool to remove the plug? I have not been able to locate one.

If not, anyone have a good idea on how to fashion a makeshift tool?

I thought about grinding down a 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch adapter...

Thanks,
James

its an 8mm square plug. you can get the tool from any motor factors for about a fiver, or about a quid of Aliexpress.

dont go to renault for tools, they aint special.
