bad pick up
when driving the car a couple of weeks ago, i noticed that as the car got warmer, it started to, what i can only describe as rumble, or "pink" a bit when you put your foot down, so much so, that the engine management light was flashing away for about a minute, then disappeared
this is the 2.0 model, could it be the MAF?
should i invest in some fault reading tech, if so, what one do i need?

This is what I have: https://amzn.to/2dbJvOD
It's a cheapie that connects to your mobile or tablet running the Torque Pro app.
Works fine.

Re: bad pick up
1.9dci had the same ish problem flat then vroom off it went sometimes flashing an engine management light for a moment for me it was egr valve tried cleaning but didn't really work so renewed it but I must say it was a pain as it didn't work that well I had to get a chap with the renault diag to wipe old egr parameters allowing ecu to then re learn after that superb get it chipped even more fun plus a spot of 2 stroke oil in fuel ahh theres the va va voom!

Re: bad pick up
ah, this is the petrol version tho, maybe just a good clean out of the inlet stuff may help?
as i think it was very much a summer car, and i haven't been able to drive it about much either, which i don't think helps the cause, shame though, as it starts on the button first time every time!

Re: bad pick up
Petrol aaaa had it stuck in my it was diesel for some reason... bit of a useless answer then.
Sorry.
Every one raves about code readers but they dont read everything for example mine gave an egr fault initially we used an electric cleaner on it and car drove ok for about a week then pulling out of a junction it died and ran flat as hell foot to floor as bus was trying to kill me after around 200 yards turbo kicked in and away it went EML flashed a few times but it never ran quite right after plugged in renault laptop no codes stored yet it still ran flat you could just feel it we reverted to initial fault and changed egr valve once it was forced into an adaption all ok. Yet acording to cars ECU no fault logged even though EML flashed a few times.
2.0 Ltr petrol..... nice. Map it!!

Re: bad pick up
Bit of an obvious reply(on my part)I got my 1.6CC 2006 last march from a dealer in Blackburn,it had had a service 3 months before so my only maintenance was to have the Cam belt changed.Quite pleased with the performance -on my next trip back to the UK had a full service including Spark plugs all filters etc.etc.I was surprised at the better flexibility of the engine and the smooth revving up to 6k 150 quid well spent.

Re: bad pick up
If you find it feeling like it's misfiring at idle and the car is shaking try whipping your crank sensor off, clean the rust and crap off with a little Emery paper and this may be a good fix.

Re: bad pick up
Commonly called TDC sensor its to the right of the engine, under the two oil plugs.
On a semi circular bracket.
I will try to take a pic later but yes its two bolts and a cable disconnect.
It's possible to do it blind but tricky.

This is essentially what you need to do. Some people say just spray it but then you have to be careful of the flywheel getting full of gunk.

I managed it with only the battery out not the battery mount.

I suppose it's possible but get a good mirror/torch and a healthy dose of patience.
