Glass Sunroof Wind-noise, sticking & crunching

Postby JBaloooo » Sun Jan 04, 2015 9:13 pm

If I take my car above 60-70 MPH I get a load of wind noise from the panoramic glass sunroof. Has anyone else had this issue, and know of any fixes? I often find opening it fully and closing it again helps but isn’t a permanent solution.

Also from time to time the roof sticks closed and needs a shove to get it on its way and often makes a cringeworthy metallic “crunch” as it opens. Have a bought a car that’s been shunted and everything is out of align? Anybody else had similar problems?

Thanks all :-)

have a search for sunroof problems, some one posted a solution to this by buying the nylon guides of ebay and fitting them

My sunroof used to rattle before I changed the plastic guides, which cost about £8 for 4. There's a good guide on this site somewhere. I would say that my sunroof suffers from slightly MORE wind noise since changes them but doesn't rattle at all.

Personally if the sunroof is sticking and crunching when attempting to open I would stop using it as there's a good chance it will break at some point and this may be with the roof open!

New plastic guides are the way to go, you can find them on ebay real cheap. Replaced mine and the wind noise is gone, haven't used the sunroof since :grin Easy to replace too.

Got a similar problem, was going to replace the rubbers - when I removed the trim to expose the hex? bolts, one was completely rusted so unable to get any drive on it to remove, any ideas how to get it out?

Quick update
Finally got round to replacing the rubber clips on the arm - no more catching (although still rattles a bit)

One problem fixed, new problem arrises (story of my car ownership!) - drivers door window not working. Replaced the little black box unit & all ok - NOT - now the cable has decided to unwind from the pulley mechanism :cry
