Hi, dunno if anyone can help me but I've got a couple of issues I can't seem to find any information on. I've searched through the forums but come up with nothing so far.
My megane last week, ( I have a 1.4 16v 2003 extreme ) as I was driving down a slight hill had a "moment" the radio blacked out, the clocks reset, the needles were doing their own thing entirely. The immobiliser light blinked few times then the engine cut out and I rolled to a stop at the junction. ://
Two days ago a similar thing happened, this time as I pulled up to a junction the radio blacked out again and the steering lock made some noise, it didn't cut out this time.
I've also noticed when driving at night my headlights on main beam seem to "flicker" they dim briefly then return to normal. I suspect alternator, in particular the regulator on the back.. but im stumped for ideas. I've checked what earth points I can find and all seems well... ???? heeelppp I'm a little nervous driving it anywhere tho touch wood it hasn't yet tried to kill me whilst doing above 20

Re: Megane Woes
Sounds like water ingress in the PSU; check the cover on the headlight access hatch on the front left wheel arch liner and the liner/undertray.
Don't drive this car meanwhile.

Re: Megane Woes
Good News!!!
I decided to spend a good 2 hours poking and prodding anything with a wire attached and just as it began to rain I managed to locate my star drives and remove the tacky bit of plastic hiding my battery.
Positive. All good there.
Negative. Jesus shagging Christ. BIG earth lead barely screwed in place. Smaller earths on lug at back moving like there at a disco and the medium sized one attached to the securing bolt loose as fudge.
New clamp required as screws are knackered they just spin but managed to secure it with both screws until tomorrow when I can get to autostop. Took it 18 mile round trip tonight, no flickering headlights. No kamikaze steering lock. No radio blackouts.
Hopefully problem solved!! The wiring on these cars is shocking!! I swear Ray Charles did most of the wiring it seems.

Re: Megane Woes
Very good indeed. Do you think it was a factory fault or a doggy job?
