Hi,
I have a Megane MK2 2006 Diesel.
2 months ago it failed to start with the yellow coil warning light appearing plus *sometimes a "Braking Fault" error on the dashboard.
Changed the spark plugs and this fixed it but yesterday I've had the same problem, could it be the coils? Is the "Braking Fault" a red herring or do I genuinely need to add some more brake fluid perhaps? In any case what has this got to do with starting the car?!
This problem happened after leaving the car unused for just 36 hours.
The battery is fine by the way, fan only works on setting 3 but I'll leave that for another day (!)
Any help appreciated, my instinct is telling me to change the coils......
Thanks in advance
Mihailo

Re: Won't start + 'Braking Fault' error
It's a 56 reg Diesel Dynamique 1.4. DCI, 80,000 miles
Page 63 of the manual shows the coil light (Preheating Indicator Light) on the dashboard which comes up.
The glow plugs to give them their correct name on a diesel were changed a month ago and it seemed to have fixed the problem until now....
Best Regards

Re: Won't start + 'Braking Fault' error
There are no 1.4 diesels in the range, only 2.0, 1.9 and 1.5, choose your favourite... Even better is you could read the model code from the oval plate, something like BM0G.
Braking Fault is about ABS/ESP. If the fluid goes low, there would be a beep and the brake light on the dash. The fault in question can be either electrical or the ABS/ESP pump dead due to not changing the brake fluid every second year.
The heater fan issue is probably caused by the resistor pack. They burn out due to not replacing the cabin filter every year.

Apologies it is a 1.5.
Any connection with the starting problem and the brake issue or just a coincidence?

Typical.....starts first time in the garage...
Beginning to loose my patience with it, will probably leave it over the weekend and *hopefully it will display the starting problems on Monday morning.

Re: Won't start + 'Braking Fault' error
As usual with Meganes and faults like these the garage plugged the laptop in, did something with the software and charged me £66.
Working for now....

Not again, same problem has reared its ugly head.
Any suggestions before I take it to the last chance saloon, the Renault dealership in central Bristol?
