BBS RS :) 18x8! What you think?

Postby ckier08 » Wed Jan 18, 2012 2:08 am

Okay so I was going to buy new alloys! Bbs rs's 18x8! :)
The ET is 35! Now I was wondering will this mean that if I buy these wheels they will stick out 7mm more than the usual et 42 OEM wheels? Thanks
:)

Basically yes but are they the same width as the ones that are on because you need to take that into account.

I think my original wheels are 6.5j but I could be wrong!
These wheels are 8j, so would be alot wider and would look better! What does everyone else think?

There's a strong possibility that they'll foul your arches then.

My winter wheels are 7" wide so the fact that they are 7mm further out due to the ET difference didn't matter as my summer wheels are 8.5" wide.

You will be fine with 8" wide and an offset of 35. However, I think they will stick out way too far with those 37mm spacers you were looking at on eBay.

I am running 8" wide wheels with an offset of 35 or 38 (can't remember exactly of the top of my head) with 20mm spacers all round. This set up pretty much fills the arches.

Hope this helps.

I have a 8j and 35 offset sit bang on with arch line, i have put a small stretch on my tyres just to keep them clear of the arch

I won't need spacers at all I don't think if i buy these wheels! :)
Oh really so they will be a perfect fit for my arch's and sit flush? is there any room at all on the arch's?
I have my car on coilover's so it's lowered 70mm all over as well! :)

If your going euro, stretch the tyres, not only looks better but will help keep any rubbing to a minimum

Done this with my astra coupe, 8j on front and 9j on back

That cannot be possible. I have the same wheel set up but with 20mm spacers all round to fill the arches. There's no way just wheel would fill them :?

So if I got 18x8 wheels with a 35 et AND use 20mm spacers all around then the wheels will be flush yeah?

If you have a lower et, e.g. ( 15 et ) don't the wheels sit out more and more with a lower et?

Yes the lower the offset the wider the stance essentially.

You should be fine with et35 and 20mm spacers. What tyres were you planning on running?
