Removing speedo cover thing!!

Anyone know how to remove the curved cover that shades the speedo+rev counter. Haynes says just pull but it doesn't want to come off. Any tips appreciated, don't want to snap any thing.

Like the manual says: just a firm pull towards you (not up) does the trick!
