BETTER ROOF AIREL NEEDED..... WHICH ONE TO GET ?

I need to change my roof airel for one that picks up better reception.
Just got one of those Ipod FM transmitters which works great but crackles a bit when its on the passenger seat or on the centre consul.
If i hold it up to the sunroof the crackle goes.............. ( makes my arm achs after an hour tho.... ...)

Has anyone changed their roof twig for one with better reception ?.

If so with what ?

Cheers.

This will not help. Poor reception is due to a low signal to noise ratio. It has nothing to do with sensitivity. The roof acts as a screen for radio waves, so the signal from the transmitter becomes lower than the noise and other signals from the air...

Added later upon reading the post of ulrich100:
I thought the standard antenna includes an amplifier, as it is mentioned somewhere in the manual. If reception was improved by replacing it with the active "shark fin", then either my information is incorrect or the standard amplifier is rubbish...

I will look up the direct link.. wasnt to bad to fit...

I had to remove the rear roof lining to get at the areial, then un bolt and slice wires, then bolted on sharky and soldered wires back together... it took about 20 mins...

One word of caution... i am in a saloon with curtin airbags on the rear posts.. the hatch has them at the rear on the roof just under the lining where you have to access to get to the aeria.. i would take great care as you dont want an air bag exploding in your face...

but when done it really looks the ticket... especial if you get it body coloured. I have a metalic black megane the shark came in black so wasnt a problem.

This is how the end result looks...not to mention way better reciption.

That looks great (and vandal-resistant too) ... please post more details. I presume that, being "amplified" it requires power as well?
