I have seen a Megane II 5 door sport hatch that I want to save.

The story goes,

Boy prangs his dad's car. Dad was paying tax, mot and insurance for his son's Megane. After pranging his dad's car, dad tells his son to find a well paid job and pay for his own car. So mot and tax expired and car got parked up around August/September 2013. Car is parked on hard standing. On an 03 plate. Has three alloys and one steel rim. I assume other alloy is in the boot. The windscreen needs replacing as windscreen has a lovely crack in it. As the car has auto wipers and lights, I guess the windscreen won't be cheap. The car was running ok when it was parked up. Until I have a thorough look, I dunno what else it needs. I asked how much he wants for car and he didn't know. If he scraps it, he'll get £120 if he's lucky. I foned round scrap dealers and breakers to see what they pay.

1. Owned by a boy who prangs cars.
2. Boy did not care enough to get a job and pay for own car.
3. Missing alloy (probably kerbed) and cracked windscreen indicate previous level of care/maintenance.
4. Not run for 6 months. Battery and electrics will be dead.
5. Seized brakes? Tyres? Timing belt?
6. No MOT.
7. Etc

Run away. It's a certain money pit. 1000's of Meganes on Auto Trader to choose from.

There's plenty out there and there's no point in picking what is pretty much guaranteed to be a prune.

An update.

I decided not to buy it. Glad that I left it alone. My problem is that I cannot bear to see any Renault go to the big scrapyard in the sky. I love Renaults!!! Somebody has to.
