The Mégane II Owners' Club

I have lost the pedal on the clutch on my Megane II 1.9 DCI 120 6 speed 103,000
Assume it is the slave cylinder that has failed as the pedal has been going for a while now accompanied by a fluid loss which I can't trace so assume it is in the clutch housing.
New slave cylinder means a new clutch while I am there but does it mean a new dual mass fly wheel?

Job is expensive enough as it is, adding the cost of the fly wheel moves it in to makes me wonder whether I scrap the car.

The dual mass flywheel does not necessarily have to be replaced as part of the job. However, on mine, the thing was nearly in bits. It's worth swapping because the majority of the cost is labour. You will be looking at a bill of ~£1k if you have replace everything or around half or less for just the friction disc, pressure plate and slave cylinder.

Worth bearing in mind is that many garages may suggest simply welding the two halves of the DM unit together - a couple of tacks with a MIG gun should solve it cheaply.

The debate on DM flywheels will no doubt go on forever, but I don't personally see the benefit...
