Where can I find a service schedule?

Postby moonrakre » Thu Mar 03, 2011 12:59 pm

Can anyone tell me where I can find a service schedule for my Sports Tourer 1.9DCi Expression, please.

So that I can check that the garage is doing all the things they should.

Best Wishes

Adrian

OK, I'll rephrase the question:

Where can I find a service schedule for my second hand car which didn't come with a service book?

Cheers

Right. Renault UK do not have a central database for maintenance work. So, if you phone your local dealership, they will only be able to tell you what they did. If they didn't ever service the car, you will not be able to find anything out.

The next thing to do is to find out (from the previous owner, or guess based on where they lived) which dealership (if any) carried out work. Phone them, and there should be a record. You may have to call Renault customer services (google the 0800 number) and explain. If you find the correct dealership I think it is possible to get a new service book issued and stamped accordingly.

Thank you, Davelowe,

However, my question is not to find out what they did, but what they should have done.

I know what you mean, is at x amount of miles what should have been changed...
I'd like to know this for mine to...

Do you want to know this for next service or something?

Hi,

I'd like to know it for the last service and any future ones. But also which of the services can I do myself. On some cars the minor services are just inspections and changes of fluids. On all my previous cars I've done those myself, so I'd like to know what should be done on this car.

For the major services I use an independent garage and I they tell me that they don't stick to the manufacturer's schedule because they believe that it is too skimpy. I like this garage but I would feel more comfortable if I knew that what Renault say should be done is done, and I knew what the extra work is.

I don't trust main dealers for servicing. I don't believe I have had a main dealer service done without a light bulb having been changed even though I check them before the service, for example.

Cheers

Change the oil and filter once a year (or 9k miles). Change the pollen filter and air filter every two or (18k miles). Re-gas the air con every 4 years and change the brake fluid. Belts are generally due every 5 years or 72k miles.

Inspect the brake pads and discs prior to any MOT.

That should cover most things.
