Megane 1.6 16v Speed Ratio problem

Hi there I am currently driving Megane 1.6 16v and it is a 53 plate. The problem is while I am driving 60 mph or 70 mph it feels like needs a 6th gear which I dont have and at the same time first gear ratio is very short. Can anyone help me with this issue. Thanks!
