The Mégane II Owners' Club

Well it's been an eventful Saturday. The plan was to give the car the works however I had to stop twice cos it started to rain! Most annoying. Anyway here we go.

The first couple of pics I tried to capture the swirls in the sunlight. This bodywork needs some restoration at some point, but a polish and wax will have to do for the time being.




Here we move on to some pre pics to show the muck.







I started by giving the wheels a once over with the mit. I had thoroughly cleaned the wheels last week with shampoo and Tardis using a spoke brush and detailing brush, and they came up great, but I'm in the process of buying some Bilberry to properly clean them and some stuck on spots wouldn't budge.

I then proceeded to clean the badges, grills and door shuts with the detailing brush. Afterwards I cleaned the whole car using Maxi Suds II at double strength to help remove old polish. I used my new Wookies Fist which was great!

Once the car was rinsed I clayed the car using CYC's own clay and a bottle of Maxi Suds II as lubricant. The first pic is after half the bonnet. Not that dirty!



This pic is after claying the bottom half of the driver side behind the wheel. Very dirty!!



After I finished claying here's where it started to rain the first time! Grrrrr. Luckily it only lasted 10 minutes so afterwards I re-rinsed the car and dried using a MF Waffle Weave towel.

I then started to polish the car using Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine, however halfway throught it started to rain again!! I quickly tried to buff off the polishing I'd put on but it was turning into a kind of paste! So I waited for it to finish which was about 20 minutes later. Afterwards I didn't fancy starting again so I patted dry the wet bits and carried on polishing!

Once left to cure I buffed off and left for an hour. After that I started with the Autoglym High Definition Wax. I went round the car in stages, leaving for 15 minutes and buffing off then doing the next bit. I made sure I polished and waxed the door shuts as well.

You can get rid of fine swirls by hand, try Lime Prime make sure you don't get Lime Prime lite as that's too light weight.

I used Lime Prime on my wifes black car at weekend before sealing and waxing it for winter and I have to say it looks superb
