New Laguna

Is there anyone owning one. We are considering one and wanted to findout if its any good. Either the 1.5 dci or the 2.0 (150bhp)

The new Laguna is very dull, but full of kit. Looking at it, its also very ugly although they have managed to make the coupe model look half decent. They don't sell very well, and alot of Renault show rooms won't even have any new models in the show room and the prices crash even more than the Megane. For that size of car you need to change to a different badge :). Renault still can't make a decent 5 seat mid-large size car. Shame really.

or if it's a new car and you want to stick with Renault... the Latitude is coming soon. Renault may make it their flagship car.

Yeah but the Latitude is a re-badged samsung car. After the wet squid that was the Koleos again a rebadged Samsung, I doubt it'll be much good and massively over priced. If they want to replace the Espace as the flagship car they need another vehicle like the Vel Satis - just with better styling. I doubt we'll see another Laguna after this generation. Nissan focused its range and its worked well, I wouldn't be suprised if Renault re-focus around the Megane and Clio platforms.

Well since the arrival of baby a bigger car is needed. So far the following have made it to the final list:

New ford Mondeo estate (its a ford), Skoda superb estate (nice but all taxis have them), Citroen C5 estate (nice but lower mpg), Megane estate (no initiale trim), Laguna estate (new version coming in December and new 1.6dci engine sounds tempting) and Vauxhaul Insignia estate (no sun roof option)

Which one would you consider as the top three out of those listed?

Is it a trim or a car?

As Stranger says, I have one and love it! It's a 2.0dCi 150 but I have fitted a tuning box to it so it's even more powerful. :D

I've had it nearly a year now and in 13000 miles I've only had one problem and that was traced to a faulty turbo pressure sensor and a full remap of the ECU.

It's built really well and is lovely to drive, I am doing a lot of motoryway driving at the moment and it will sit in the outside lane with the cruise control set to 3 figures and stay there all day and still do 44mpg :D

I have driven a 1.5dCi and it's okay but just a bit breathless at times, but as the saying goes, you don't miss what you have not had

I have also driven the 175dCi Coupe and that is amazing :D

Sorry BlueMeganeII we will have to agree to differ on some of this  :grin

Here is the problem

Image

Clios boot is a bit too small.

Luckily the meganes boot is big enough to swallow it whole

therefore estate is needed.

I guess you didn't check it fitted before purchase! You could see if the pram wheels come off easily enough to fit, or try removing the parcel shelf and standing it vertically. That's what we do on my wife's Corsa for either of our larger puchchairs. If you want an estate just to fit the pushchair, Renault do a Clio estate as well...

Why don't you get the Grand Scenic? Loads of space for your pushchair, same kit levels as the Megane and engines.

The face lifted laguna does look a little better but the car will be worthless in a few years time. The Ford Mondeo gets my vote if you go for that class of car, theres lots around if you want to buy nearly new and for a mid-large sized family car, its not ugly. The build quality of fords lately has gone through the roof, as has their prices! I don't think the Ford image is anywhere near as bad as the Vauxhall badge at the moment due to alot of hard work from Ford. Vauxhalls slowly recovering aswell.

Oh and you may want to consider changing the push chair, although the Quinny and Phil and Teds (??) ranges are expensive they are clever and good space savers, plus it beats changing your car for a push chair although I just did the same thing as you...

We bought the pram because of the nice deal we got with it. Not only that its nice and easy to push around.

I am trying to avoid MPV because I am trying to keep that little free boy with in me still free
