What is this in my glove compartment

Hi,

there is a small box inside my glove compartment that has a black/green knob sticking out of it. It is evidently molded into the glove box. Neither the car dealer (Subaru) nor my local Renault dealer seem to know what it's for?

As it might fire rockets, inject nitrous oxide into the engine or operate the ejector seat I am naturally wary of trying it without some further information. I would post a photo but I'm not sure how to do this.

Any suggestions as to what the knob is for?

Regards,

Martin

Is it not where the 'chilled' air from the ventilation system is pumped in?

No idea! Take the glovebox off and see if there are any cables attached to it. There should be a hole there, cold air from AC should cool the glove department.

as above, remove the glove box (5-6 Torx screws) and see where it goes.
The hole for the cooling part is there it seems.. the large thing.. i've no idea. it's not a plug for an additional cig lighter socket is it?

Never seen owt like it...

Do as has been suggested - remove the glove box and see if it has wires. I would be interested to find out!

Now, cut the red wire first, or is it the blue?...
