hi im running the standard 16" rims on the megane
wats the best or most recommended tyre sizes and makes i could get no more than say £80 a tyre.
would 225/55/R16 fit??

any help and recommendations would be great as im putting them on as MOT is next week.

You need 205/55/R16. Go on Camskill.co.uk and have a look at this size of tyre.
One tyre of note which has very good reviews are the Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. They are only £63 a tyre aswell.

I've got 2 brand new Event WL905 205 55 R16 (budget tyres) for sale if you fancy a ride to West Lancashire?
£60 for the pair.
I bought 4 and ran the other pair on my previous Laguna Sport Tourer and was very happy with them! Sold the car before I got round to putting these on. They are just sitting in the shed gathering dust
