Cleaning your Meggy

So, what products does everyone use and also what methods?
I'm basically looking for advice as I'm wanting to give the Meggy and really good going over and restoring the paint to it's original glory. It's been ruined by those circular scratches you get from getting bits of dirt stuck in sponges etc and ideally I'd like to get rid of them.
Is anyone here used to doing their own mini-detail on their cars? I'd speak to a proffessional detailer but I can't really afford to pay someone to do it for me (stupidly expensive honeymoon to pay for!!).
I'm currently using the "two bucket method" along with some Simonz car shampoo+wax that I got from Tesco
a hose and a microfibre towel for drying the car.
