Who else has experienced a similar ridiculously overpriced quotes from a Renault Dealer?
I took my 225 F1 Team in for a fault find on the airbag warning light. All I had done was slide the passenger seat forward to put a baby car seat in the back and the light came on and stayed. Strange!!!!! When I took it to Renault they ran the customary 25 point check, bearing in mind it had had a 36K miles Renault Service only a month earlier. What I thought was a simple wire adjustment or repair came back as:
Worn Brake Disc All Round.
Low Pads All Round.
One Blown Foglight Bulb.
One Damaged Alloy Wheel.
One Puncture.
Two Worn Tie Rod Ends
One Split and Leaking CV Boot Joint Cover.
Complete Air Wiring Loom damage Nil for repair complete replacement needed.
After my heart attack at the list and subsequent £2000+ estimate for repairs. I took my car to a Formula One Autocentre in my area who I've used before with my list and facial expression of someone has just died. They checked the same areas gave me this list:
Brake Disc Worn but still good (get Drilled and Grooved plus EBC pads for half the price.
Foglight Bulb £9.95
Alloy small dent from pot hole, no need for action
No Puncture.
Tracking Check for Tie Rods ends evaluation and poss replace.
No split in CV boot, only Jubilee clip missing £1.00 for new clip.
All work done including labour 45minute. £110.00
How can Renault justify that kind of heart stopping estimate when it actually cost 5% of what they would have charged me and had the car ALL day?

Was it the same dealer who did the 36K service?

If it was I would be questioning their professionalism and standard of work. :?

The issue you took it in for is a well known problem with the connector under the seat. :banghead

The dealer who did the 36K service was different from the loom fault dealer but still a Renault Dealership. I had problems with them over the brake disc and pads. There service inspection came back saying my pads were at there minimum and the disc's showed signs of rust. When I brought it to there attention that I myself had changed the pads for new ones only 2weeks earlier they got shirty with me. The only reason I took it to main dealer is that as I only brought the car in October I wanted a clean slate bill of health on its first service in my ownership then no visits to a main dealer ever again and with these 2 bad experiences I can safely say I'll be steering clear for as long as I have a hole in my backside.
Everyone please don't fall into the trap of feeling your car in unroadworthy just off there say so.

They always seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill & make things sound a hundred times worst than they are.

The airbag warning light came on because you have accidentally unplugged the cable when you slid the seat back. Its located by the drivers door underneath the carpet. I did it when I was hoovering. Took it to my local garage and they fixed it for a tenner!! Took five minutes to do it. I'll know next time to be more careful!!
